Overview
We The Investors exists to empower individual investors to have their voices heard in the process that shapes financial market regulation. One of the most effective ways to do that is the SEC's public comment process. Below you'll find our past comment letters and a short guide to writing your own. Writing your own letter is the most effective approach, but filing ours also shows regulators how many people support these views. There's strength in numbers.
Our top priority right now: Rule 611
The SEC has proposed scrapping Rule 611, the Order Protection Rule that guarantees every investor the best publicly displayed price. Comments are due August 17, 2026, and it takes about two minutes.

How to write a comment letter
The SEC cares what you think and wants to hear from you. For every proposed rule it solicits public comment, and by law it must read and take into account every comment letter. Signing your name to a form letter is good; writing your own is far more effective, because individual letters elevate your voice and ensure your concerns are acknowledged. Here's how to craft an effective one:
- Learn about the issue and decide on your viewpoint and key arguments. Use our guides if they help.
- Be constructive and professional in tone. This is not the place to attack or insult.
- Email it to rule-comments@sec.gov with the rule's File Number in the subject line. You can attach it as a PDF, Word, or text file, and should note the format in your email.
